Pursuit of Laughter is a multiplayer procedurally generated 3D roguelike game that I had the pleasure of being apart of the development of this year. As of 2024 it's my biggest project yet taking on 4 roles over the course of 3 months with roughly 8 other people on the project.

As the level designer and environment artist I ended up making over 30 unique level tiles across 2 different unique gameplay environments in the form of a castle and a library. In addition to enemy spawns as well as the coding for our games procedural level generation in Unreal Engine 5. Going into the interior focused library environment(s) was also my first time diving deep into lighting in UE5 and the final result is great.

As the Technical Artist I started the project with some generic looking asset packs and rebuilt the shaders from the ground up and added post processing to achieve a cell shaded stylized look that blends together look of games like Lethal Company and Risk of Rain. I also managed the optimization of the game. Determining the best way to light scenes optimally, managing niagara particles, reformatting existing meshes, etc.

As Creative Director I worked with this game from the start. I took it from the simple game jam to a fully fleshed out and polished game to be released on steam. The project started as a game for the 2024 global game jam and before the theme was announced me and my project manager decided we wanted to make a more serious game. So when the theme was announced as "make me laugh" we decided to go with the idea of an evil jester. Throughout development I managed and worked over our two composers, one animator, two coders and a couple of out sourced artists.
